2020 begins with purpose.

Two Colorado visits in 2019 re-anchored me to my roots. The vision and hope inspired by the crisp mountain air stands in sharp contrast to the gritty, industrial city I call home. Traveling back and forth between Denver and Chicago since 1981, this contradiction between the beauty of both cities articulates the approach we bring to transformative change.

We embrace the active stretch from vision to pragmatic implementation. Key phrases in business and nonprofit management -- Make the world a better place. Data-informed decision making. Blue sky thinking. -- delegate planning strategies to polar opposites.

Naming a vision is exhilarating. Natural tensions bubble up when naming contradictions. There is an instinct to reject this gap in search of an all-encompassing answer.

The truth is in the middle. It's the pragmatic vision that holds the contradictions up to the light. From the lightness dark. Turn the frown upside-down. From truth, power.
